2000 Handicap Tournament Rules

  1. The entry fee is £3.00. Please pay this to one of the organisers (Paul Heneghan, Brian Ireland or Errol Ferris) and make sure your name gets ticked off on the list.
  2. Please get in touch with your opponent to check whether the scheduled time is OK. If there is a problem, let us know and we will do our best to rearrange it.
  3. All matches will be the best of five games.
    American scoring (i.e. point-a-rally up to 15).
    At '14 all', receiver can 'set one' (first to 15) or 'set three' (first to 17).
    Only one serve is allowed.
  4. Remember there is a plate competition for first-round losers. This means you are guaranteed a minimum of two games. The plate may not be open to the seeded players as this might hold up the tournament.
  5. Please come along and support as many of the matches as you can - particularly the finals on the last Sunday. After the finals, food will be provided in the bar.
  6. Visit the Squash Section website (http://www.eveshamsquash.co.uk). This will be updated every evening to show the latest results and commentaries. It will also include any updated times for rearranged matches. It would be great to have some write-ups for the matches. If anyone feels inspired, please e-mail me your efforts. Once again, lecherous or libellous commentaries in particular would be appreciated! The squash content also doesn't have to be particularly high - anything in the public interest is OK (e.g. Jimmy's athleticism, rowers' legs, Chinny's latest hairstyle etc.).
  7. The starting scores are worked out as follows: Your starting score is on the intersection of your row and your opponent's column.
    Example: Paul Heneghan v Steve Dyke
    Paul is in group E and Steve is in group B
    Paul's starting score is +7, Steve's is -9.
    This means that Paul needs 8 points to win whereas Steve needs 24
  8. If it appears that a player is in the wrong group, the organisers reserve the right to move that player to another group for the next match.
