Evesham Squash - 15 May 2008 |
Welcome to Evesham SquashWelcome to Evesham Squash, the Squash Section of Evesham Rowing Club, the very first Club in the country to be awarded the England Squash Club Charter Bronze Award. We have just fulfilled the requirements of the Silver Award, and are working towards our Gold. Membership and facilitiesEvesham Rowing Club, which is owned by its members, has three modern Squash courts, recently refurbished to the highest standards, with over 50 regular squash-playing members, ladies, gentlemen and juniors of all levels of skill, ranging from beginners to county players. Members are graded in accordance with England Squash standards, and membership is open to all who love the games of Squash and Racketball. Membership also includes individual membership of England Squash. Special terms are available for families and juniors, and currently the subscription also covers the other major Club sports of Tennis and Rowing. There are no court fees, light fees or stamp fees - the subscription covers it all. Courts are available in 45 minute sessions and can be booked online by members up to two weeks ahead. Access to the club is by means of a key fob (£10, refundable). TeamsThe Club usually has one or two men's teams and one ladies' team competing in the Worcestershire County leagues. In addition there are Veterans' teams (men over 45, ladies over 40) in the Gloucestershire Veterans Squash league. We also try to run a junior team most years. CoachingCoaching is available, by arrangement, from qualified England Squash coaches, who also organise the Thursday night training sessions. Club Night and TrainingClub Night and training sessions are held every Thursday evening from 7.30 pm. This is an excellent opportunity to improve your squash by doing some routines and condition games designed to improve your fitness and hone your shots. All members welcome. CompetitionsThe Club Championship is held annually, together with a Handicap competition. Occasionally we will run other 'fun' tournaments such as doubles, Racketball, 'lefties' against 'righties', etc. Junior SquashJunior Squash welcomes young persons between the ages of 8 and 18, every Saturday morning, and now includes over 20 members, working through Mini Squash and England Squash training programmes. The juniors play in the Worcestershire Leagues, and several have been selected to play for the county, or even the region. We have excellent links with the county junior organisers and some of our juniors are involved with the county training sessions and the regional academies. Social ActivitiesThe Club's licensed bar is open to members every weekday evening from 7.30 pm, and social events are held most weekends in the large upstairs function room, overlooking the river. There is a training gymn, with weight lifting and ergo equipment available for use by all members qualified to do so. WebsiteFull details of our activities are published on our website at http://www.eveshamsquash.co.uk/. It is regularly updated with squash-related news and information about tournaments, teams etc. The parent club has its own website at http://www.evesham-rowing-club.co.uk/.
